Chattree answers your members from what your group has been taught. Nothing else — when it has not been told something, it says so rather than inventing an answer. There are two places to teach it, and which you want depends on the size of what you are adding.

Which one you want

Something to upload or link

A handbook, a price list, a page on your site. These go on the group’s dashboard page.

Anything a sentence can hold

A date, a venue, a rule, a decision. Just tell Chattree in a direct message.

On the dashboard

Open the group’s page on your dashboard and press Teach it something. There are three ways, and you can use all of them: Chattree reads whatever you add and searches it on every question a member asks, so a fifty-page handbook is as usable as a one-line note — members ask in their own words and get the part that answers them. Add as many as you like. A new one never replaces an old one.

Questions it could not answer

The same page lists what members asked that nobody answered, with how many people asked it. Write the answer once and Chattree gives it to the next person. It is the shortest route to teaching a group the right things, because your members choose them for you.

Facts, dates and decisions

For anything small there is nothing to upload and no dashboard to open. Message Chattree directly, reply 1 for Chat With AI, and say it:
Name the group and Chattree writes it into that group’s own notes. Its assistant reads those notes when a member asks, so it is in front of your group from the next question onward.
Each group has its own notes, and they stay separate. Something you tell Chattree about one group never reaches another — even when both are yours.
Chattree also adds to these notes itself, as things get settled in the group. That is what stops you answering the same question every month.

Message Chattree directly and reply 4. Each group is listed with a number.

Pick the group

Reply with its number. You are now talking to that group’s assistant, not to the group.

Ask it anything a member might

It answers from the same two things a member’s question reaches — what you added on the dashboard, and that group’s notes — so what you hear is what they would hear. If it has not been taught something it tells you so, which is the useful part: you find the gap before somebody else does.

What it will not do

Chattree does not fill gaps with guesses. A question it has not been taught the answer to gets a plain “I have not been told that yet”, not a plausible-sounding invention — because a confident wrong answer in a group of two hundred people is worse than no answer.
Teaching a group by sending a document or a link inside the My Groups menu is no longer offered. It could only hold one source per group, so adding a second quietly replaced the first, including anything added on the dashboard. The dashboard has always supported as many as you like, and that is now the one place documents and websites go.
